RTP | ON-AIR Graphics
The Challenge
How do you design on-air graphics that reflect a public broadcaster’s vision for a modern, forward-thinking identity?
RTP (Rádio e Televisão de Portugal), the national public service broadcaster, operates four television channels, three radio stations, and several satellite and cable platforms. Itsanashow Studio was invited to develop a new visual identity for RTP’s on-air graphics across all news programs.
The goal: to align the on-air graphics with RTP’s dynamic, youthful, and forward-looking strategy — enhancing usability for operators while ensuring consistency with the channel’s broader visual identity.

The Solution
We created a visually cohesive and engaging on-air graphics system that blends clarity, functionality, and vibrant motion design.
Organic Transitions and Dynamic Motion:
Smooth, organic transitions were key to creating a seamless viewing experience. These animations brought flow, energy, and a contemporary touch to the on-air visuals — capturing RTP’s refreshed approach to news broadcasting.
Strategic Use of Space:
By fully utilizing the horizontal space of the screen, we achieved a cleaner, more expansive layout — elevating the way information is displayed and consumed.
Informative and Accessible Design:
The final graphics package included:
- 42 bugs/logos
- 22 lower-thirds
- 6 headline and promo templates
- 7 live transitions
- 4 split-screen transitions
- 2 ticker lines
Each element was meticulously designed for readability, operational ease, and visual harmony — helping convey news content clearly, engagingly, and in line with RTP’s modern brand vision.
