RTP | Newscast Identity
The Challenge
How do you create a visual identity that reflects the modern evolution of a public broadcasting organization while maintaining its legacy of trust and credibility?
RTP (Rádio e Televisão de Portugal), the Portuguese public broadcaster, operates four national television channels, three national radio stations, and a variety of satellite and cable offerings. Itsanashow Studio was entrusted with the task of designing a fresh, unified visual identity for RTP’s newscast programs.
The goal was to align with RTP’s vision of being dynamic, youthful, and forward-looking, while also streamlining workflows for operators and maintaining consistency with the channel’s broader visual language.

The Solution
Light. Image. Information.
These three core pillars guided our creative process, culminating in a visual identity that positions RTP as a bridge between audiences and the world.
Light as a Window to the World:
Light symbolizes RTP’s mission to inform and connect. It plays a central role in the visual language, representing an ever-changing perspective that evolves with the day’s news and transitions seamlessly across digital platforms.Dynamic Use of Color:
Vibrant, daring colors were chosen to mirror the energy and immediacy of news broadcasting. By allowing light and color to interact fluidly, we brought a fresh perspective to traditional newscast visuals, embodying RTP’s dynamic and innovative evolution.Sophisticated 3D Openings:
Approximately 24 unique openings were developed for RTP’s newscast programs. These sophisticated 3D animations placed light and color at the forefront, delivering a bold and visually compelling experience that redefined RTP’s identity for modern audiences.

“A lot of soft skills are necessary to find meeting points and fine-tune concepts. I am very satisfied with all the work we developed together, and we had very positive feedback. We achieved sobriety, elegance, and readability.”
